How to Prevent Mould in Your Shoes

Discovering mould on your shoes can be incredibly frustrating, especially in humid climates like San Diego. Fortunately, there are effective strategies to keep your footwear in great shape and free from mould.

Start by ensuring your closet is well-ventilated, as mould thrives in damp environments. Consider using moisture absorbers or silica gel packets to help control humidity levels. Always clean and dry your shoes before storing them; a quick wipe can go a long way in prevention.

It’s also a good idea to rotate your shoe collection regularly. By doing so, you allow air to circulate and prevent any one pair from sitting in stagnant conditions for too long. If you do spot mould, don’t worry—mixing water and vinegar can help clean it off, but make sure to do a spot test first.
