With a new season upon us, I find myself reevaluating my wardrobe color palette. I usually favor a clean, simple style with a focus on neutral shades, but I’m contemplating adding some vibrant pops of color this year to keep things fresh.
One of the challenges I face is selecting colors that not only complement my preppy staples but also ensure comfort and practicality. I want to make sure everything I choose works well together, so I avoid ending up with mismatched items. How do you determine your color palette? Any must-have shades or tips for achieving a cohesive yet functional wardrobe? I’d love to hear your thoughts on incorporating color into a classic style!
I usually start by picking one or two standout colors that I really like and then work around those with neutrals. For instance, pairing a bright mustard with black, white, and navy can be a game changer! Also, swatches can help a ton—just grab some fabric samples or even paint chips to see how everything blends before buying. Making sure those new colors match what you already have definitely saves some headaches.
I totally get the struggle! I stick to a base of gray and navy but love adding in forest green or rust for a bit of excitement. Those colors seem to go with just about everything I have. Mixing in accessories like a bright scarf or shoes helps too without going overboard!
